Smartmouth Pilot House
Smartmouth Pilot House is a brewery in Oceanfront, Virginia Beach, located at 313 32nd St. Small-batch brewery and wood-fired pizza oven in a converted post office three blocks from the sand — home of Safety Dance pilsner and Savage Mondo.
Smartmouth converted a former post office three blocks from the Oceanfront into the Pilot House: a small-batch brewing system, tasting room, and wood-fired oven turning out Neapolitan-style pizzas. Founded in 2012 and a Hampton Roads craft-beer fixture ever since, Smartmouth made the Pilot House its home base after closing the original Norfolk brewery at the end of 2025 — so beers like Safety Dance pilsner and Savage Mondo hazy IPA now live at the beach. Kid- and dog-friendly, closed Mondays in the off-season.
