Pleasure House Oysters
Pleasure House Oysters is a attraction in Chic's Beach, Virginia Beach, best for oyster and seafood lovers, a hands-on Lynnhaven River experience, small groups celebrating something.
Pleasure House Oysters farms the Lynnhaven River by hand — every oyster hand-selected, tumbled, graded, cleaned, counted, and packaged — reviving a Lynnhaven oyster once famous nationally before overharvesting and pollution wiped out the beds; the company is a partner in the Chesapeake 10 Billion Oysters Partnership working to bring them back. Its own boat tours depart from a dock on Lynnhaven Drive near Chic's Beach and come in three flavors: a two-hour Tasting Tour ($55/person, up to 14 people, 4-person minimum); a Waterman Tour ($88/person) that adds wading knees-deep into the river in water shoes to pull oysters, crabs, and eel and fish pots straight from the farm; and a three-to-four-hour Chef's Table Tour ($154/person, 2-7 guests) where a full dining experience is plated at a table set up directly in the river shallows. Guests are welcome to bring their own wine. The farm's oysters otherwise reach the public only through seven partner restaurants across Virginia Beach and Norfolk, which makes booking a tour the one way to meet the operation itself. Reservations run through Captain Chris Ludford.

Lynnhaven River NOW Oyster Roast
May 1, 2027 · annual (first Saturday in May)
Lynnhaven River NOW's signature fundraiser turns the waterfront lawn at the Brock Environmental Center into an all-you-can-eat oyster roast, marking the nonprofit's multi-decade push to bring the Lynnhaven's namesake oyster back from near-collapse. Roasted and raw oysters pulled from the restoration reefs anchor the spread, backed by barbecue, local beer and spirits, live music, and a shucking contest, with proceeds funding the group's oyster-reef and water-quality restoration work. It's a rare chance to eat Lynnhaven oysters within sight of the reefs that grew them, at a bayfront green building a few minutes off Shore Drive.
